The women who make up OLLMOO are from all around the world, with diverse backgrounds, unique career pathways and inspiring personal and professional stories. So today, we’re excited to share Yana Pavlenko’s story; a passionate Business System Analyst whose career has been shaped by opportunity, a willingness to learn and dedication.  

From starting as an auditor to progressing into sales and business analytics, Yana’s professional background showcases her ability to adapt, grow and persist – qualities we hope to inspire amongst our OLLMOO community.  

Tell us about your key accomplishments, challenges you’ve overcome, and the milestones that have brought you to where you are today.

Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate enough to work in diverse roles that have shaped my skills and helped me grow professionally. Each position has brought unique challenges and milestones that I’ve been proud to overcome and achieve. I began my career as an Auditor at Mazars (July 2019 - January 2021), where I developed a solid foundation in data accuracy and financial analysis. One of my key accomplishments was managing audits for multiple clients simultaneously, whilst maintaining high-quality standards and meeting tight deadlines. This role taught me the importance of attention to detail, time management, and clear communication in delivering results.  

Next, I transitioned to a Sales and Business Process Analyst role at Timac Agro, Ukraine (January 2021 - March 2023). Here, I honed my skills in data management and analysis, particularly through tools like Power BI, SAP, and Excel. A major milestone was leading the implementation of Power BI and integrating it with CRM and SAP systems. This initiative streamlined data visualisation, enabled real-time decision making, and enhanced efficiency across the organisation. I also faced challenges like bridging the gap between technical tools and business users, which required translating complex data into actionable insights for senior management. This experience deepened my understanding of how data can drive strategic decisions.

Currently working as a Business System Analyst at RS2 Software (since 2023), I focus on analysing client requirements and identifying gaps in existing software functionalities. A key accomplishment has been collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions for clients while maintaining alignment with their strategic goals. This role has further sharpened my problem-solving abilities and strengthened my ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Each of these roles has been instrumental in shaping my journey. The transition from auditing to data analytics reflects my passion for working with data and my determination to contribute to data-driven decision-making. These milestones have prepared me for the challenges ahead, and I’m excited to continue growing and making meaningful contributions in this field.

What has been your experience since joining OLLMOO?

I found the results of OLLMOO’s profile assessment very reflective of my work style and strengths. The insights highlighted my goal-oriented and highly motivated nature, coupled with a strong ability to organise and follow through on tasks. My extroverted personality allows me to build strong relationships, whilst my patience ensures I remain calm under pressure. I excel in roles requiring precision, persistence, and adaptability but am mindful of balancing my structured approach with flexibility. The assessment provided valuable feedback for growth, such as maintaining focus on the bigger picture and fostering collaboration over competitiveness.

What advice would you give to young professionals just starting in your industry?

From what I have experienced so far, I’ve learnt that your career is not always going to follow a straight path. It will have unexpected twists, challenges, and moments of doubt, but that’s where growth happens.  

1. Curiosity is Your Superpower

Never stop asking questions, exploring new skills, and seeking knowledge.  

2. Rejection Isn’t the End, It’s a Redirection

Don’t be afraid to hear "no". It’s not a failure; it’s simply a signal pointing you in a different direction.  

3. Relationships Matter More Than Resumes

Degrees and skills are important, but the people you meet along the way will shape your career the most. Be open to making connections and surround yourself with people who inspire you.

Looking ahead into 2025, what opportunities are you looking for?  

In my next role, I’m looking for opportunities that will allow me to further develop my skills in data visualisation tools, such as Power BI and Tableau, and deepen my expertise in advanced analytics techniques. I’m eager to tackle challenges that involve complex data sets, automation, and transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. Additionally, I’m seeking an environment where I can collaborate with cross-functional teams, learn from experienced colleagues, and contribute to impactful projects. My ultimate goal is to grow as a data professional while supporting the organisation in achieving its objectives through innovative and efficient data solutions.
